FAQs
Quick answers to the most common questions.
How many times per week should I practice?
Two or three sessions per week is the sweet spot for most working golfers. It keeps your body open and balanced while leaving plenty of time for gym work, golf practice, and playing.
A class per day is not unusual for more active players or those with flexible schedules.
Where do I start? Is there a Beginner class?
New students can start with any class.
Good Practice intentionally doesn’t separate beginner and advanced classes. They're all designed to operate like a course with multiple sets of tees. More advanced variations are offered in certain classes, and they’re always optional.
What’s the structure of a typical class?
Each class is between 25-40 minutes and follows a steady structure that supports movement, recovery, and mental focus.
Grounding: Arrive, breathe, and settle in
Warm Up: Gentle mobility and easy movement to ready the body
Build: Active postures and flowing sequences that develop better rotation, stability, and balance
Peak: The strongest posture or sequence of the day
Cool down: Unwind with deeper stretching and calming restorative postures
Rest/Savasana: Complete relaxation in a lying posture to close the practice
Do I need a yoga mat? Any brand/model recommendations?
I highly recommend one — mainly to prevent slipping. A simple $10-$20 mat from TJ Maxx/Ross/Marshalls or one like this from Amazon works perfectly fine.
If you decide to invest in a higher-quality mat, my suggestions are Manduka or Lululemon. If you're ~5'10 or taller, you may be more comfortable on an extra-long and/or extra-wide option.
I'm 6'1 and practice on the Long & Wide (79"x30") version of the Manduka ProLite.
Can I stream classes on my TV?
You can stream classes on your TV by casting from your computer or mobile device, or by using a TV-based web browser
Most students prefer practicing with a laptop or mobile device at the top of their mat.
